The Nature Smart Climate Solutions Program is a five-year program which OLTA administers in partnership with 13 Ontario land trusts. Together, we support more than 76 projects that enable ecosystems to store and capture carbon while providing important habitat for species at risk and/or species of cultural and local importance.

This program has been made possible with the support of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC)’s Nature Smart Climate Solutions (NSCS) Fund. The goal of the NSCS Fund is to finance natural climate solutions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and/or remove GHGs from the atmosphere while enhancing environmental resilience and providing critical habitat for Canada’s wildlife.

This fund has provided over $12.4 million to OLTA and its partners in order to help Canada meet its 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction targets. These funds have been matched by OLTA and our land trust partners with funds from other sources, such as individual donations, foundation support and other levels of government.
