Our mission is nature conservation in Muskoka. We envision a healthy, resilient Muskoka that conserves natural spaces for our own and future generations. To achieve our mission, Muskoka Conservancy is a registered charity and a Canadian corporation that operates as a land trust. That means we acquire ownership of properties and legally registered agreements with private property owners to protect land for nature conservation.
"The work we do takes place on the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations and communities, past and present. We acknowledge their stewardship of the land and the life these areas sustain, down through the ages, in an ongoing and reciprocal relationship of respect and trust. The work of the Muskoka Conservancy involves lands included in the Robinson Huron Treaty 61 (1850), and the Williams Treaty (Rice Lake Purchase) Treaty 20 (1818). We are grateful to have the opportunity to work in this territory and commit ourselves to learning the truth of our shared history and to engage in the process of reconciliation."
Ontario Land Trust Alliance (OLTA) is a registered charity focused on providing community, knowledge sharing and support to land trusts and other groups committed to land conservation across Ontario.
